Potter Actor's New Year Honour

Potter actor Robbie Coltrane, who plays Hagrid, has been rewarded in the Queen's New Year Honours list.

The actor who plays the giant gamekeeper at Hogwarts has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE).

Twenty-three people who helped victims of the 7 July bombings in London have also been rewarded for their bravery.

They are among a list of people who have been awarded by the Queen for doing something special in their lives.

Imelda Staunton, who's been cast to play Professor Umbridge in the Order Of The Phoenix film, also receives an OBE.

England's cricketers, who beat Australia to win the Ashes this summer, have also been honoured.

Captain Michael Vaughan has been made an OBE and the rest of the squad have become Members of the Order of the British Empire (MBEs).

Vaughan said: "I'm really pleased that all the players have been honoured in this way. It's something we can all take great pride in."

The team behind the London success in hosting the 2012 Olympics have also been honoured. Sebastian Coe will now be known as Lord Coe KBE.

Strictly 'over the moon'

After being told he was being made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), Strictly Come Dancing presenter Bruce Forsyth said he was "over the moon".

TV chef Gordon Ramsay has been made an OBE and Apple iPod designer Jonathan Ive becomes a CBE.

Also, four British people, who spent the past year helping victims of the South Asian tsunami, have also become MBEs.
